Tigers News

Hi everyone

A good week of skiing was had by everyone last week with another good turnout. We had another session of 'quick feet' exercises which seems to have improved everyone's versatility and speed. This week we are hitting the technique trail as the artificial racing series is drawing to a close. Work on stance and postural elements will be the order for a few weeks to come. So we will be working on foot width, flexion, extension, arm carriage, back angle and eyelines.

The Rossendale summer league drew to a close on Sunday. Tigers have achieved some great results not just in the skiing but the socializing as well through this league. Overnight stays, curry nights and skiing have been the order of the weekends.
Sunday saw the final. It was nice for me after attending the first one of the season to also attend the last one and see the skiing progress that has been made. Lets remember that the Tigers whole package is about an atmosphere that promotes friendship and skiing skill, lets hope that continues into next years event.
The end result this year were several medalists and a team that came 5th (I think). The medalists were:

Amy Stokoe Under 8 - Gold (and a trophy bigger than her)
Martha Bradley Under 16 - Gold
Becky Shepherdson Under 16 - Silver (I think)
David Stokoe - Under 50 Silver
Tracy Curry - Under 50 Gold( I think)

We have a thank you card for Ski Rossendale who have put on a great league. If you have been at Rossendale it would be great if you could sign the card this Thursday at Tigers.

I have to say it has been a very worthwhile experience. We will be looking to recruit a team organiser for next year. No rush on that one but it does involve paperwork before during and after the event. On another note it would be great for Tigers to promote further. Have some official items such as banners, club gazebo etc. Maybe you know a local business or businesses who would like to fund such a project. Not much money involved and a chance to get your name put round the country.

Dates for diaries
Next Castleford dates:
Sunday 28th October - 6 places left. Last chance to book is this Sunday
Sunday 25th November - taking names now if you want to book.

October half term training can take place on Tuesday 30th October from 12 - 5pm. I have 3 names already but need 10 to enable it to run. Andrew will be coaching this one and will need to organise time off. Therefore if you want to train then the cut off date will be Saturday 13th October or I will cancel it. The cost is approx 25 pounds.
October Half Term training day. Sorry we have only had 3 persons book for this so I have now postponed it unless we can find another 7 people who wish to take part.

4th November Bairns and Lassies race Edinburgh - This is another great little fun event at the slope in Edinburgh. The details are at

20th December Xmas Club Fun Night (Selection Boxes, Mince Pies and the odd drop of jolly stuff :-))

Xmas snow training - Scotland 3- 5th January in a Scottish resort (probably Lecht and Glenshee) Cost approx 75 for the coaching for three days. Can you give me a rough idea on interest so we can start planning. I have 4 for this up to now.

Now the bad news - memberships are due as off this week. The cost remains the same at 25 pounds per family. Please get a membership form from Richard and fill in the details. We will be taking membership money this week.

Hope to see you tomorrow, for a slip and a slide :-)
